0-0 with Macedonia, football super-powers will be terrified of facing England wont they. England arent even the best team in Britain so what chance do they have of becoming the best in the world or even Europe.

England are only as good as The Sun says (perhaps) and when the Nigels read it, which they do by the million, then, and only then will they know what to think.

Reply:we went to see them yesterday- I've never been to a match were I was so bored!!- they were all cr*p!- apart from Stevie G of course and he wasn't at his best- Lampard was hopeless- Downing was a disgrace- god only knows how Ledley Smith got man of the match!- the only time they looked good was when Sean wright-Phillips came on- but the rest of the team seemed to have lost interest a long time before that!!


On Paper England have a great team but in reality they just don't gel together!!! We will never win anything- Overhyped and overpaid!!!

I put it down to them being over-paid and under-worked. A day of labouring on a building site would bring them down to earth.





Because of their obscene earnings they think they can buy anything they want, but one thing they cannot buy is skill.





Think back to when they won the world cup, this was a team of players who were proud to wear an England shirt and I am sure that is one of the reasons they won. Passion about representing their country, and not earning anything near to the wages of today's so called star players.





I watched a replay of the Word Cup final of 66, and what a pleasure it was to watch football being played, there were no leg breaking tackles, aggression, head-butting, assaulting the referee, spitting on each other, to mention a few of today's tactics, it was simply football skill, and the prize was being crowned World Champions.





I don't think England will ever be a force to be feared by other nations in the football world in the future.

Reply:Yes,that is true.All last previous matches under maclarn were playing with minor teams which were semi-pro level.They need acid test how really good they are..they are drawn 0-0 with macedonia..If they face with really strong teams like-portugal,sweden in this euro qualiifer...what the outcomes be...
Reply:It seems a long time since the world cup in Germany, but, even with a change of coach England still perform mediocre at best. I've heard some journalists reporting that they play too many games and are looking tired and jaded. Well I remember my dad telling me that there was players in the 1950's and 1960's who worked a 45 hour week trained 4 nights a week played every wed. and sat. and never complained of too much workload. Unlike the modern players who train in the morning and have the rest of the day to themselves. Well done Scotland, and if England was in Scotlands group I wonder how well they would fare?

Reply:I would love to know what the training regime is for the England team as they appeared to me to be treading water. And this is the case each time they play these days. They are either overworked in training or have gotten too complacent about their individual fitness levels.





Where has all their initiave gone? It also seems to me that they are being kept on a tight leash all the time and that the spunk has all but gone from them.





Leave it to Terry V not the other dumpling to get the best out of them and bring back Becks. Though he is not the greatest tackler in the world and is sometimes selfish I think he and Terry V would be the best thing for this team. Becks makes his team Gel.

Reply:I actually still don't think that the majority realise yet. I still look incredulously at friends as I am told we have "five or six world class players"!





There is no way that the media or patriotic fans will ever attempt to lower the unremitting bleating that English players are fantastic and that the English premier league is the finest in the world, because everyone wants to continue the myth that England are somehow just a few matches from glory. England have underachieved as a whole for the last five years (ever since Gerrard, Cole and Ferdinand joined Owen, Beckham and Neville in the supposed golden generation) and the inability of managers and coaches to gel players who look great for their clubs into a cohesive team unit goes on. Even some matches England win, they are made to look a disparate collection of individuals rather than a team.





I would have thought that England fans realised how exactly how good England are at the World Cup: not particularly. Unfortunately goals against minnows produced a case of the Emperors New Clothes. Again.





Perhaps real interest will come if Ingerland are defeated in Croatia: will McLaren genuinely be said to be under pressure?

Reply:that is not the only problem, they also seem reluctant in admitting that the other teams also have value and know how to play football. they underestimated Portugal for 3 times and in those 3 occasions they had to go home!
